Kinesiology is a complementary therapy. It does not claim to treat, diagnose or cure named diseases.
PKP stands for Professional Kinesiology Practice. It was founded by Dr Dewe MD and his wife Joan. During a session it focus' on the participatory kinaesthetic process. This means that it is an educational process and the client is an active participant. As practitioners we merely walk besides them on their journey, helping them to rediscover their own magic. I like to look at it like connecting the dots in a way that makes sense to them and ties everything together.
We recognise that the mind, body and spirit are interconnected and the mind becomes the body. The first thing I do with a new client is teach them how to self muscle test. I love empowering my clients so they can make positive changes in their lives. Giving them the tools ( like self muscle testing) and knowledge is just part of the process!
I love how PKP Kinesiology teaches it's students how to muscle test almost every muscle in our body, depending on the level of education we have, we can learn over 200 finger modes. These finger modes show the practitioner which techniques the body wants to clear the stress. The finger modes are related to the structural, electrical, emotional, spiritual aspects of our bodies. We learn about the 5 elements, meridians, their associated organs and the metaphysical and metaphoric meaning and reasoning's behind them. We can test for almost anything.
Every correction we do requires an emotion. After all, emotions are energy in motion. Emotions are everything, they leave an energetic imprint that is stored in every cell within our body. It may be connected to a good or bad feeling or situation which will either help your growth or hinder it.
During a session, we connect all the dots together and then we ask the body what techniques do you want to clear the stressors. There are so many tools that may come up during a session. These can be rubbing or holding NVs, NLs, NEs, accumulation points, temporal tapping (used in Chinese medicine), essential oils, flower assesses, tissue salts, card decks, colour therapy, sound therapy and many more.
For me Kinesiology encompasses the mind-body-spirit connection and looks at the person as a whole, bringing it to a state of balance and harmony. It looks at all sides of the triad of health which allows the client a greater awareness and its a great reflection tool to highlight the contributing factors that may be impeding their health and well being. PKP kinesiology get to the heart of the issues which has a greater potential for deeper growth and healing to occur.
Once your session is booked you will be emailed/messaged a confirmation message and asked to fill out a client history form prior to the session.
Upon arrival to your session, we will go over your form and any goals, issues or pain you may have.
Together we will define your goals and consider how other areas of your life might be related to your goal.
We do most of the work on the massage table where you remain fully clothed.
We use the body's biofeedback system (muscle monitoring) to get a indicator response. This is where a light pressure is applied to a muscle ( usually the forearm) and we look for a unlocking muscle.
As we have a goal online, when asked specific questions, the response given by the body gives the practitioner an indication as to whether or not it is stressful. Muscle testing allows us to assess the body’s ability to cope with physical, mental, and emotional stresses and to determine where there are imbalances are within the body.
Once we have all the information, we ask the body what technique does it want to help to clear the stress from the body. We use finger modes to do this. The body may want neuro-lymphatic points rubbed, accumulation points, nutritional supplements, vibrational tools such as flower essences, homeopathy, crystals and many more to unblock the stagnant energy and restore balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit.
Kinesiology is essentially a deep meaningful dialogue aimed at addressing and bringing areas of 'stress' to the surface. By acknowledging and being consciously aware of the issue, the emotion, the relevance and the behaviour towards it, it is easier to integrate and release the 'stressor'.
At the end of the session, the practitioner will go over and check the emotions and a few other things and you may even have homework from the session (like taking a supplement or homeopathy remedy).
This is completely different for everyone and it depends on why you were visiting a Kinesiologist in the first place. Most client's report feeling calm and relaxed. They say that they feel lighter and don't feel the contsant fog that was hanging around.
Sometimes it takes a little while to notice the difference. Often when a clients come back for a session, I go over the last session and they then click- "oh i haven't thought about that, or it hasn't happened since, or the way i think/feel/view it has changed, or i haven't had the pain since or its different now''.
If its working with releasing traumatic events/emotion's, I've had clients report that they are were very emotional or tired but then after a few days, it resolved itself and then they feel lighter, calmer and notice the changes.
The number of session's vary from client to client and it's dependent on you and why you are coming to see a Kinesiologist (long/short term issues, chronic or acute complaints, depth/layers of emotions).
Some clients report instant changes, others notice subtle changes a few sessions. Some clients have 4-6 weekly session's to maintain their health and wellbeing
I've had a volunteer come monthly for 6 months, in that time she saw her debilitating sciatica pain disappear, we also implemented homework to do to help maintain the balance.
I've had another client come monthly to work on managing stress in her life, once she felt she was on top of that area of her life, we then worked on her sleeping issues.
